Legal organization

The Ghent PDF Workgroup is an international assembly with vendor and association members from all over the world. From a legal point of view however, the group is a Belgian non-profit organization.

Therefore the Ghent PDF Workgroup is governed by two sets of rules. The bylaws define how the organization works from a practical point of view. A separate set of documents in Dutch establish the legal context of the organization as a Belgian entity.

The bylaws are publicly available (even from this website). The Dutch legal documents are available to the members but not to the general public.

The reason the Ghent PDF Workgroup founded a non-profit organization was mainly to resolve questions regarding intellectual property rights, copyrights and trademark issues for the generated work and to have a legal accounting structure for the dues paid by the members.
