GWG Compliant Applications

Introduction

This page gives you an overview of all applications that are compliant to one or more versions of the GWG specifications. It does not only show you to which specifications an application is compliant with. But also the kind of application (PDF creation or PDF preflighting tool), and the market segments it supports.

Used abbreviations

The following applications are compliant to the GWG specifications as described.  However some of the older versions of the applications may no longer be supported by the application vendor. GWG always suggests that you use the most current version of the software along with the most current version of the GWG specifications.

NOTE

1.  GWG recommend PDF creation tools
   
   A GWG recommended PDF creation tool should be considered as an application that has been field tested by multiple GWG members with a large number of production files. They guarantee a high level of reliability in creating "good" PDF's, on condition that the right PDF creation settings are used and that the layout document does not contain "problems" to begin with (e.g. low resolution images, white text set to overprint).
2. GWG compliant PDF preflighting tools
   
   The GWG compliant preflighting applications, are applications that have been formally tested by the GWG, to make sure all preflight "errors" and "warnings" are captured correctly. To perform these tests, the GWG uses a large set of test files, specifically created to check this kind of applications. This compliancy testing of preflight applications ensures a very high reliability, although a 100% error proof software can never be guaranteed.
